First Children’s Finance:
New Non-profit CDFI Website Backs Child Care Entrepreneurs Seeking to Finance and Manage their Businesses More Effectively.

PROJECT CHALLENGE

Founded in 1991, and based in Minneapolis, MN, First Children’s Finance (FCF) is a national nonprofit committed to increasing the availability, affordability and quality of early care and education throughout the United States. As a CDFI (Community Development Finance Institution), FCF provides loans and assistance to entrepreneurs; partners with communities; and influences state and federal systems to increase support for childcare businesses. In need of updating its antiquated site to attract new business, FCF desired a new one that would appeal to daycare center owner-operators serving low- and moderate-income families while building partnerships with public and private funding resources. The new site would also need to follow SEO best practices to increase awareness of FCF’s programs and loan fund while stimulating an influx of website visitors, including new customers and sources of grant money.

PROJECT SOLUTION

Given the prodigious amount of site content, MVP enlivened user experience by assimilating vivid and impactful images that bring the messaging to life. The new site is now a one-stop-shop with intuitive UX design that appeals to every type of visitor from entrepreneurs to communities and from state to federal systems. To promote interaction, site visitors are invited to visit three key sections: For Businesses, For Communities and For Systems, i.e., states.

MVP’s custom-designed WordPress CMS (Content Management System) is easy for any FCF team member to learn and master in minutes. Now with a site that functions as well as it looks, every visiting daycare entrepreneur will have an opportunity to apply for low-cost financing that will contribute to stronger childcare businesses and help families and communities nationwide.

CLIENT TAKE

“This update is even more impressive than we hoped. We love pointing everyone from owner-entrepreneurs to state and local agencies as well as foundations to the new site! Big thanks for all the help MVP gave us every step of the way.”
