From Shaping Deals to Shaping Art: ShoreView PE Co-Founder Launches New Sculpture and Photography Site
Project Challenge
As an existing client and former Chairman of ShoreView Industries, DJ Wakefield worked with MVP on the launch of ShoreView’s corporate website. Now as DJ Wakefield, a multidisciplinary artist working in sculpture and photography, he envisioned a website that would disappear into the background—allowing the art to speak for itself. Unlike traditional artist websites, the DJW site would feature no biography, no sales functionality, no social media links, and no overt branding. The goal was to create a minimalist, immersive experience that foregrounds the work and nothing else.
Project Solution
MVP embraced the challenge by crafting a site that is as much a work of art as the pieces it showcases.
- Immersive Intro Sequence
Visitors are greeted with a cinematic sequence of full-screen images—sculptures and photographs—unfolding one by one before arriving at the homepage. This brief “visual overture” sets the tone for the site’s contemplative pace and visual focus. - Radical Minimalism
The homepage is stark and elegant, with a white (or optionally black) background and only two initial thumbnails for sculpture. Navigation is intuitive and silent—no hamburger menus, no labels, no distractions. - Art-First Navigation
Clicking a thumbnail leads to a short video (for sculpture) or directly to categorized photo galleries (for photography). - Sound by Interaction
In keeping with best practices, music only plays after user interaction. Sculpture and photography sections each feature a distinct soundtrack, with a mute option available. - Scalable and Future-Ready
While the initial launch includes Sculpture and Photography, the site is built to expand. Future categories—Mixed Media, Jewelry, and Retreats—are already planned, ensuring the platform evolves with the artist’s body of work.
Positioning DJ Wakefield for the Future
This site is not just a portfolio—it’s a digital gallery, a quiet space for reflection, and a bold statement of artistic intent. MVP’s design honors DJ Wakefield’s vision by creating a platform that is as distinctive and uncompromising as the work it presents.
