The United States Law Firm Group® (USLFG®) is a national group formed in 1984 and consisting of 17 established, independent U.S. firms that have strong relationships with each other. The member firms, each of which is a separate entity, have worked together for three decades. Together they comprise more than 6,000 lawyers in 176 offices in 31 leading industrial states, the District of Columbia and six foreign countries.
Faced with the unexpected loss of their former website due to a third-party web server mishap, the ULSFG’s managing digital partner Armstrong Teasdale (St. Louis) sought MVP’s help in drafting a more secure site. The design and development process would need to produce a distinctive, easy to administer and reliable best practices website to serve the needs of their largely Am Law 200 ranked members. A secure, accessible and cost-effective online law library was a key project requirement for the thousands of attorneys served by the organization.
Following the MVP TeamMate℠ “form follows function” approach, MVP’s user experience (UX) dream team called up their digital marketing and IT counterparts at Armstrong Teasdale, who would judge the project outcome on behalf of the USLFG. As a first step, both MVP and the client collaborated in completing MVP’s Needs Analysis and Creative Brief documents. This resulted in a cogent and compelling site map and wireframes that were subsequently cross examined by all parties to ensure proper information architecture.
From these interrogatories the evidence was clear: the site needed to make the case for learning about the USLFG, finding a member firm, meeting the trustees, browsing practice area committees and affording easy access to the best practices document center. The project required expedited development for both desktop and mobile viewing. Industry-leading design, filterable firm finder and members only database are fast loading and easy to maintain with the MVP WordPress CMS. The website helps USLFG win the argument for its “National Strength, Local Knowledge” approach to sharing ideas and experiences in law firm management, operations and practices.
