Watermill Group is a Boston area-based private equity firm that revitalizes companies with focused strategy, management expertise and operational guidance to help them reach their full potential. To mark a long history of success, Watermill wanted to celebrate their major milestone of 40 years of private equity industry success. The goal: Content should highlight humor and showcase the many company photos shot over the last 40 years. One of the creative challenges was to strike a balance between working hard and having fun while nurturing the firm's relationships with current and future clients.
To set the stage, the anniversary site photos depict employees at annual get-togethers, sporting events and costume parties as well as more formal photo shoots and snippets of memorable company events. From peace signs and electric cars, each decade features pop culture icons to provide a trip down memory lane. Photo captions lean towards humor and articulate the way in which Watermill’s culture has evolved to become a family-oriented private investment firm. An MVP scripted video further highlights the firm’s accomplishments.
Intuitive navigation and interactive period photo panels facilitate scrolling through memorable events for each decade. Visitors page downward to take a history tour while a static mini menu remains "screen right" to allow one to jump quickly to any decade.
At the bottom of the anniversary site, a moving tribute to Watermill’s beloved founder Herbert Karol eulogizes the impact of his life on the firm and his lasting legacy.
